BRADENTON – Florida Highway Patrol announced a crash in Bradenton that resulted in four people injured, two with serious injuries Friday at noon.
The accident took place as a 31-year-old woman from Bradenton was driving a Chevy Cruz sedan heading east on 53rd Avenue West in the left turn lane approaching the intersection at U.S. 41. Also traveling in the sedan was a 9-year-old girl.
As the sedan approached from the east, a 67-year-old woman from Bradenton was driving a Chevy Equinox SUV heading west with a 54-year-old woman from Bradenton riding as a passenger in the left lane approaching U.S. 41. opposite the sedan.
At 12:00 pm the driver of the Chevy Cruz attempted to make a left turn from 53rd Avenue West onto U.S. 41 (14th Street) and traveled into the path of the oncoming SUV.
The front of the Chevy SUV collided with the right side of the Chevy Cruz sedan.
The crash resulted in the 9-year-old girl being seriously injured, and lown to All Children’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The passenger of the Chevy Equinox SUV was seriously hurt in the accident and taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital for medical treatment. Also taken to Manatee Memorial with non-life-threatening injuries were the driver of the sedan and the driver of the SUV.
FHP has stated that the crash remains under investigation.
