MANATEE COUNTY – A three-vehicle crash occurred near Myakka City on Monday afternoon, leaving two drivers with minor injuries, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The accident happened at approximately 12:45 PM on State Road 70 near Betts Road. A semi-tractor trailer was traveling eastbound on State Road 70 approaching the intersection with Betts Road, while two pickup trucks, both traveling westbound, were approaching the same intersection.
According to the FHP, a 24-year-old man from Arcadia was driving the first vehicle, a Ford Pickup Truck, and was stopped in the westbound lane to make a left turn onto Betts Road. The second pickup truck a Dodge Ram, driven by a 74-year-old woman from Wooster, Ohio, was approaching the same intersection and failed to slow down in time, resulting in the Dodge Ram colliding with the Ford’s rear as it was turning.
As the collision unfolded, the 24-year-old driver of the Ford Pickup attempted to avoid the collision, the second pickup truck rotated counterclockwise, striking the trailer of the semi-tractor trailer and traveling in the opposite direction. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported. Both pickup truck drivers sustained minor injuries, while the semi-truck driver was unharmed.
The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
