SARASOTA – Florida Highway Patrol reported that a man was seriously injured after a crash on Interstate 75 Wednesday Morning.
The crash took place as a 24-year-old man from Lake Worth Florida was driving a semi Tractor Trailer, and was parked on the right shoulder of southbound I-75 north of Mile-Marker 200 (north of Laurel Road).
As the semi remained parked, a 56-year-old from Sarasota was driving a Sport Utility south on I-75 approaching the tractor-trailer from the north.
At 7:30:00 AM for reasons unknown, the SUV traveled off the roadway drifting onto the right shoulder of I-75 where it then crashed into the left rear of the semi-trailer.
FHP stated that the driver of the SUV was seriously injured and taken to an area hospital for treatment.
The driver of the semi-tractor trailer was not harmed in the crash.
Florida Highway Patrol also stated that the crash remains under investigation.
