BRADENTON – Florida Highway Patrol reported two pedestrians were injured after being struck by a pickup truck Tuesday Morning.
The crash began as a 32-year-old woman was riding a bicycle with an 8-year-old boy traveling east on the north sidewalk of State Road-70 approaching a driveway located at 2200 53rd Ave East (State Road 70).
At the same time, a 45-year-old man from Sarasota was driving a Ford Pickup Truck and stopped for traffic, waiting within the driveway access located at 2200 53rd Ave East as the woman and young boy approached on their bicycle.
The bicyclists continued on until they entered the driveway access passing in front of the pickup truck.
At 8:20 AM, the driver of the pickup truck proceeded forward and struck the bicycle with the woman and 8-year-old boy.
Both the 32-year-old woman riding the bicycle and her 8-year-old passenger were taken to Bayshore Gardens Emergency Room for treatment of minor injuries.
The report from FHP states that was charged with having an expired driver’s license and Failing to Yield from the Driveway Access to the driver of the Ford pickup truck was charged with having an expired driver’s license and Failing to Yield to the Pedestrians.
