MANATEE COUNTY – Florida Highway Patrol has reported a fatal crash, that took place on State Road 62 Thursday in eastern Manatee County

The accident began as a 58-year-old man from Ruskin was driving a 2004 Saab heading east on SR 62, east road Duette Road, directly following a 2014 Toyota.

As the two vehicles traveled east, a 2017 Kenworth Truck, was heading west on SR 62 approaching from the opposite direction of the Saab and the Toyota.

The report from the FHP states that as the vehicles became close the driver of the Saab attempted to pass the Toyota, entering the westbound lanes directly in the path of the oncoming Kenworth Truck.

The left front of the Saab collided head-on with the left front of the Kenworth Truck.

The force of the crash caused the Saab to rotate, and the rear of the Saab then collided with the right side of the Toyota.

FHP has Stated that the man from Ruskin, the driver of the Saab was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.
