NOKOMIS – A 43-year-old Nokomis man was seriously injured after being struck by in a hit-and-run crash early Wednesday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:17 AM on Albee Farm Road, just north of Colonia Lane. FHP reported that the pedestrian was crossing Albee Farm Road from east to west when he was struck by a vehicle traveling north in the inside lane.
The vehicle, believed to be an orange Hyundai Elantra missing a driver’s side mirror, struck the man on its left side. After the collision, the driver fled the scene without rendering aid.
The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the Florida Highway Patrol or Crime Stoppers.
The investigation into this hit-and-run crash remains ongoing.
