SARASOTA – A report from the Florida Highway Patrol announced a woman was hurt in a motorcycle accident Saturday morning.

The accident occurred as a 54-year-old woman from Sarasota FL was riding a motorcycle heading east on 17th Street traveling in the right lane west of a traffic signal at the intersection with Longmeadow.

As the motorcyclist approached the intersection the light turned and the motorcyclist slowed down to stop for the light.

The report states that at 10:05 AM the woman lost control of the motorcycle while slowing down causing the motorcycle to overturn within the intersection.

The woman was seriously injured in the crash and was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

FHP has stated that the accident remains under investigation.
