NORTH PORT – Florida Highway Patrol announced a tragic fatal accident that took place very early Monday Morning on Interstate 75
The crash took place as a 21-year-old man from Tampa was driving a Toyota Corolla heading southbound on I-75 in the left lane south of River Road.
At the same time, a 27-year-old man from North Port was outside of his disabled vehicle (A Kia SUV) on the left shoulder, attempting to change a tire on the disabled SUV.
As the Toyota approached from the north, the North Port man attempted to cross the roadway from the left paved shoulder. At 4:10 AM the Toyota Corolla encountered the man trying to cross the southbound lanes of I-75.
Tragically, the front of the sedan crashed into the man at speed fatally injuring him.
Sarasota County E.M.S. pronounced the Pedestrian deceased on-scene.
FHP has stated that the accident remains under investigation.
