BRADENTON – Florida Highway Patrol has reported a tragic accident that resulted when a pedestrian in Bradenton was struck and killed by a sedan Friday night.
The crash began Friday night as a 16-year-old boy was driving a sedan eastbound on the inside (left) lane of State Road 70 west of the intersection with Braden Run.
As the sedan was continuing east, a 39-year-old man from Bradenton was on foot, attempting to cross State Road 70 west of Braden Run heading from the north side of the road toward the south side of the road.
At 10:12:00 PM under darkness, the sedan encountered the pedestrian and tragically they collided. The pedestrian was fatally injured and pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident.
FHP has stated that the crash remains under investigation.
Traveling after dark carries more risks as visibility is much lower for everyone. We urge pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers to always be on the lookout for traffic when traveling at night. All it takes is one mistake for the worst to happen.
