CHARLOTTE COUNTY – A tragic collision on Bermont Road near Chiquita Drive Saturday night claimed the life of a 20-year-old driver, highlighting the devastating consequences of head-on collisions.
The accident occurred at approximately 2:14:00 AM Wednesday Morning. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a sedan driven by a 20-year-old Parrish man was traveling westbound on Bermont Road, just west of Chiquita Drive.
At the same time, a truck driven by a 28-year-old man from Davie, Florida, was traveling eastbound on Bermont Road, approaching the same area.
For reasons yet to be determined, the sedan crossed the centerline and entered the path of the oncoming truck. The front of the sedan collided head-on with the front of the truck.
The driver of the sedan was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the truck was uninjured. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
