MANATEE COUNTY – A devastating crash involving a motorcycle and a large truck claimed the life of an 18-year-old man from Parrish on Tuesday afternoon, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

The crash occurred at approximately 12:46 PM at the intersection of US-301 (SR-43) and 116th Avenue East. According to the report by the FHP, the young motorcyclist was traveling westbound on US-301 at a high rate of speed when a large truck with a trailer, driven by a 28-year-old man from Pomona, Missouri, began to make a left turn from 116th Avenue East onto US-301.

The truck entered the intersection and into the motorcycle’s immediate path, resulting in a collision between the front of the motorcycle and the rear left side of the truck’s trailer. The impact caused the motorcyclist to be separated from his vehicle, and he landed on the northwest corner of the intersection.

Emergency responders from Manatee County EMS arrived on the scene and pronounced the motorcyclist deceased. The truck driver was not injured.

The Florida Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit continues to investigate the circumstances of this tragic crash.
