MYAKKA CITY – Florida Highway Patrol announced a deadly accident Wednesday took one life and left another in serious condition.
The crash took place, as a 52-year-old man from Lithia Florida was driving a pickup truck heading south on South Duette Road, approaching the intersection with Bradenton Arcadia Road.
At the same time, a 43-year-old man from Lake Alfred Florida was driving a truck heading northbound on South Duette Road traveling toward the oncoming pickup truck.
At 4:32 PM, the pickup truck swerved out of the southbound lane and into the northbound lane into the path of the oncoming truck.
The front of the pickup truck crashed into the left front of the oncoming truck at speed.
The resulting collision fatally injured the driver of the pickup truck, and the 43-year-old man from Lake Alfred was seriously injured.
First responders pronounced the driver of the pickup truck deceased at the scene of the crash, and the Lake Alfred man was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
FHP stated that the accident remains under investigation
